La Revoluci\u00f3n Libertadora se encarg\u00f3 de suspender el proyecto y abandonarlo tratando de borrar todas las huellas del peronismo que inclu\u00edan a este gigante. Fue ocupado por familias pobres durante muchos a\u00f1os. En 2007 la fundaci\u00f3n de Madres se encarg\u00f3 del lugar realizando algunas mejoras. Tambi\u00e9n Trapero film\u00f3 en el lugar su pel\u00edcula hom\u00f3nima, tom\u00e1ndolo como escenario central.
