The Goldelse is an undisputed icon of Berlin. In the middle of Tiergarten, this golden angel perched on the Victory Column contemplates the traffic of the city passing at his feet.<\/p>\n
It was created in 1864 on the occasion of Prussia’s victory in the German-Danish war. In 1938 it was moved to its present location in the Gro\u00dfe Stern.<\/p>\n
After the war the column was badly damaged, it was finally restored in 1980.<\/p>\n
